Need to pause a live survey without deleting it? Move to Drafts lets you take any active survey offline in two clicks, keeping all data intact for later use.
What it does
- Immediate deactivation – the survey stops displaying to shoppers the moment it’s moved to Drafts.
- Nothing is lost – questions, logic, responses, and analytics remain in place; you can edit and republish whenever you like.
- Frees an “active survey” slot – handy if you are on the free plan as it limits the number of live surveys.
How to move a survey to Drafts
- Go to Compra Surveys → Surveys in your Shopify admin.
- Find the survey you want to pause.
- Click the ︙ (three-dot) menu beside it and select Move to Drafts.
- Confirm. The survey’s status changes to Draft and it’s no longer served to customers.
Common use-cases

| Seasonal or time-boxed campaign ended | Retire the survey but keep results for reporting and year-over-year comparisons. |
| Need to edit questions or responses | Safely make changes without displaying an “in-progress” version to customers. Although it is recommended to duplicate a survey to make major changes. |
| A/B test rotation | Swap surveys in and out to control which variant is live while preserving setup. |
| Plan limit reached | Free up an active slot without deleting historical data. |
To reactivate, open the draft, review any changes, and click Publish, it goes live instantly under the same survey link.
